You must be sorted into a house to get points.

How to get house points

You get 15 points each time you hit a post count bonus. This only applies after you've been sorted.

Post count bonuses:

25
100
250
500
1000
2250
5000
10,000
25,000

You are awarded 20 points for helping another member.

How you lose house points

You lose 20 house points if you break the rules!
